If you have little ones, then you’re well aware of the fact that the big movie these days is the new Disney movie, Zootopia. Both of my boys have been obsessed with it since we saw it in the movie theater! The Easter bunny even brought baskets filled with all of the Zootopia “guys”, which was very fitting seeings how the main character is a bunny – Judy Hopps. Last weekend we celebrated my sweet baby boy’s 6th birthday and of course, he requested a Zootopia Birthday Party. If you follow my blog, you know I’m a huge party planner. Well, unfortunately, since this is such a new movie, there weren’t very many Zootopia Birthday Party ideas online. This just meant that I had to get creative. Read on to see how I pulled together the perfect Zootopia Birthday Party!
Zootopia Birthday Party Decorations
As with most of my parties, I purchased all of our tableware from OrientalTrading.com. They had an awesome selection of Zootopia plates, cups, napkins, and even tablecloths! They didn’t have balloons, and neither did our local Party City store but I was able to find some on Amazon. The only thing missing was a Zootopia backdrop. I always like to place a themed backdrop behind our themed food table but because they don’t even make one for Zootopia yet, I decided to just hang some plastic tablecloths in coordinating colors instead. I did a similar backdrop for my youngest son’s Inside Out birthday party so I knew it would look great.
Zootopia Birthday Party Food Ideas
On top of the usual red sauce pizza, finger sandwiches, and chourico and peppers that I always serve at parties, I had to come up with some Zootopia themed foods. As I said, there weren’t very many Zootopia Birthday Party ideas online, and themed food is what I really count on to pull my parties together, so this is where I had to get creative. Here’s what I came up with:
“Judy Hopps Carrot Recorder” – In the movie Zootopia, Judy Hopps carries along with her a carrot recorder pen. I was able to recreate her recorder by filling cone shaped treat bags with Gold Fish and tying them up with a green ribbon. These were a huge hit. What kid doesn’t love Gold Fish??
“Nick & Finnick’s Pawpsicles” – I created my Pawpsicles by making Rice Krispie Treats and placing them in a paw shaped silicone mold. I then dipped them in white chocolate that I dyed red with food coloring. Unfortunately, they didn’t hold their shape very well but everyone said they tasted amazing, and that’s all that really matters!
“Clawhauser’s Donuts” – Clawhauser is definitely one of our favorite characters, and boy does he love donuts so I just had to include them! I purchased a box of Old Fashioned Donuts and covered them with chocolate frosting. I then topped them with sprinkles so they would look just like the donuts in the movie. Yummy!
“Yax’s Brownies” – Yax isn’t a major character in the movie Zootopia but he’s one that everyone loves. Voiced by Tommy Chong, it seemed fitting that I pair Yax with some brownies.
“Night Howlers and Bellwether’s Night Howler Serum” – For my Night Howlers, I made chocolate pudding and then covered it with crushed Oreo cookies. I then placed fake blue flowers that I found at our local dollar store in rows. The Night Howler Serum was simply a bowl of blueberries, as that’s what Nick Wilde swaps out the real serum with in the movie!
“Chief Bogo’s Buffalo Dip” – Since Chief Bogo is a Buffalo, Buffalo Dip seemed fitting! I served this with nacho chips. It was sooooo good!
“Mayor Lionheart’s Mac & Cheese” – I almost always serve Max & Cheese at my parties just because it’s something that I know all the kids will eat. I wasn’t really sure what else to pair up Mayor Lionheart with but this worked just fine!
“Zootopia Pasta Salad” – You can’t really tell in this pic but I used animal shaped pasta to make my Zootopia Pasta Salad. Not only did it taste amazing, it was super cute too!
Zootopia Birthday Party Drink Ideas
Mr. Big “Ice Em'” – I used Blue Hawaiian Punch to look like the water that Mr. Big threatens to freeze his enemies in.
Flash “You want it when?” – I couldn’t serve coffee to a bunch of little ones but Iced Tea was a great alternative!
I printed all of these food cards onto card stock and because I couldn’t find animal print paper anywhere, I made the borders using animal print duct tape! I think they came out adorable!
Zootopia Birthday Cake
I always make my boys’ birthday cakes and some of them can get pretty elaborate. This time, though, I kept it simple. I made him a two layer cake, one Funfetti and the second Chocolate. I frosted it with my homemade buttercream frosting and decorated with a Zootopia Play Set that I found on Amazon.
Birthday Party Entertainment
I always rent a bounce house for my boys’ birthday parties. I find it’s the best way to keep the kids entertained so that the adults can actually relax and have fun too. Every year we rent from the same company. Unfortunately, this year that company closed. I decided to search on Craigslist for another company and found Playful Party Rentals. I won’t go into all of the details but on the morning of my son’s birthday party, in the middle of setting up the bounce house, the owner became extremely aggressive and rude to me without any real reason. He then took the bounce house away, while yelling at me right in front of my two young children. After he left, I had no choice but to hop back onto Craigslist and pray that I would find someone willing to deliver a new bounce house before the party. Luckily, I came across Kidz Celebration Inflatables. The owner, Tom, promised to deliver a bounce house within the hour. Upon arrival, he greeted us with a smile, wished my little one a happy birthday, and then set up an amazing bouncy house that was in perfect condition on top of being absolutely spotless. The pricing was beyond reasonable, even though he could have charged me an arm and leg because I was in such a bind and called him so last minute and he was flexible with pick up time, something I wasn’t expecting because again, this was last minute. So I’d like to take a minute to say Thank You, Kidz Celebration Inflatables, for saving the day! You went above and beyond to make my son’s day perfect. I am so very thankful to have found you and look forward to renting from you for many years to come. YOU ARE THE BEST!!!

If any locals (RI/MA) are looking to rent a bouncy house, call Tom at 401-230-4536.
