My son, Joshua, was turning two and loved music and dancing. What better theme for his birthday party, than The Wiggles!? For those of you who aren’t familiar with The Wiggles, they are only the greatest children’s music group around! I’ll admit, there are some children’s songs that drive me absolutely insane, but The Wiggles, I can deal with! Their songs fun, upbeat and super catchy! One of my favorites is “Fruit Salad, Yummy, Yummy!” So how do you throw a perfect Wiggles birthday party? Follow this guide and I promise, you’ll have one happy birthday boy or girl!
The Wiggles Decorations Ideas:
Rather than spending a ton of money on paper plates and cups that had pictures of The Wiggles on them, I purchased all of our tableware in The Wiggles signature colors – Blue, Red, Purple and Yellow. I also purchased streamers, balloons and tablecloths in these colors. I hung the streamers along the fence and wrapped them around a large tree in our yard. I turned our kids’ table into the talking door of the Wiggles’ house by wrapping it with a green tablecloth and adding a border with a purple tablecloth. I cut out the eyes, nose, mouth and cheeks from cardstock I had laying around the house and taped them in place. This table was a huge hit! I hung colored in Wiggles pictures that I pulled from a coloring book that we had, all around the yard and I added Wiggles stickers (found on Ebay) to all of my themed food cards.
The Wiggles Themed Food Ideas (all based on Wiggles songs and characters):
- “Cold Spaghetti” – Pasta Salad
- “Hot Potatoes” – Chourico and Potatoes
- “Henry the Octopus” – Hot dogs and Beans. The hot dogs were made into octopus. You can see a great tutorial here. I made mine half the size.
- “Fruit Salad” – Obviously, fruit salad. 🙂
- “Crunchy Munchy Honey Cakes” – Great recipe here.
- “Dog Buscuits” – Brownies cut into dog biscuits with a cookie cutter. I placed the brownies in a dog dish.
- “Mashed Banana” – Banana yogurt
The Wiggles Themed Drinks Ideas:
- “Rosey Tea” – Fruit Punch
- “Wiggly Water” – Bottled Water
The Wiggles Themed Birthday Cake –
For Joshua’s birthday cake, I made a half sheet of chocolate cake with homemade buttercream frosting. I shaped The Wiggles characters and the big red car with fondant. I made the border of the cake the four Wiggles’ colors and to add a little bit more fun to the cake, I scattered music notes all around. Joshua was in love with this cake!
Party Entertainment:
Rather than trying to plan a bunch of birthday party games and rounding up all the kids to have them participate (pretty impossible since we usually have about 60-80 guests at our parties), we always rent a bouncy house for the kids. And after a ton of bouncing, what better way to cool off than with ice cream!? After cake I brought out an ice cream sundae bar, complete with mini Kit Kats, mini peanut butter cups, M & M’s, Reese’s Pieces, chopped walnuts, whipped cream, hot fudge, strawberry syrup, and of course, maraschino cherries. The kids and the adults LOVED it!
I hope these tips and ideas help you plan the perfect Wiggles themed birthday party for your little music lover!
